    Good video. And I subscribed because you asked. I have a 2022 CRF 300L and have added all the mods you discuss except for the 550 Performance ECU which I ordered and will be here soon. I also added a Yoshimura exhaust system and Ohlin's suspension and front fork springs. I think those two mods are important for performance, albeit expensive. I also have a 2-port USB connector which is hard wired in. The CRF actually comes pre-wired to accept this mod and it is well worth it. I live in Laos and do some serious jungle riding and having Google Maps displayed on your phone helps enormously. Especially since the phone battery isn't draining. Another handy thing I bought is a 10 liter rubber gas bag. The 7 liter tank is a little small. There have been occasions where I have been hard-core looking for a gas bar! Having an extra 10 liters strapped to the bike eliminates a lot of worry. I also upgraded the footpegs, air filter with high-flow cover & snorkel and the handle grips. Lastly, I put on a small clear windscreen which I love when driving in dusty conditions or on the main roads. It's barely noticeable and moves the air and dirt away from my face allowing me to drive on hot days with my faceshield up without worrying about getting dirt or a bug in the eye! And in Laos, it's always hot.

    I've heard plenty of derogatory remarks about the DR650 bush pig and so forth. I love my DR650 and would recommend it to anyone who could fit it. You would probably fit a comfort seat and a bigger fuel tank. This bike will take you anywhere. Bang for buck it's unbeatable. We can't buy them in NZ anymore. It's a great concept I only hope Suzuki make an updated version.

Pena que aqui no Brasil a Suzuki ela não é mais oferecida 0km, senão eu compraria outra hoje mesmo. Eu amo motos big-singles.

    The main bonus for the 450MT (Ibex 450) is the size and seat height. It allows so many more riders to get in to the on/off road bike market. Most have seat heights in excess of 34/35". 32" and even lower if you drop it on the dog bone is perfect for new and experienced riders who don't want to climb on to the eiffel tower whenever they want to go for a ride.

    I got 1100 km on my 450 here in Poland. I ride the Rally 300 in Indonesia (suspension fixed, intake, exhaust, ecu tuned...). I bought the 450 for longer adv rides. This translates to a lot of pavement, just the reality. The 450 is an awesome buy and a good bike (90% or more Japanese quality). One disappointment for my requirements is the very short gearing. It seems everyone is focused on the off-road part (my Rally is for that) and no one mentions the on-road stuff. At 65 mph or so, the engine sits at 7000 rpm (8500 red line). The engine is smooth, it will most likely live there forever, but for me it just doesn't feel good or right. Already installed one tooth up front sprocket, helped some, but now the acceleration is not as brisk or fun. The fueling especially off idle is the typical emissions restricted on/off switch like. For now I have to "ride around that, some extra clutch work...". A good, clean tune is required.

    I’ve spent a lot of time on a dr650. Above a certain pace you really notice the flex in the frame and swingarm, it’s awful on the highway, and at 17k miles mine was smoking noticeably and needed a rebuild. They are great bikes if you can find one for 1500-2000. But people are asking 4-6k for them and need to put away the crack pipe.

    As a European, I am surprised the DRZ is still sold anywhere in the world. It disappeared from the European market somewhen in the 19th century, because it didn't comply with the Victorian emission standards.

    You really need to get a ride on one then you will know the feeling, i have a dr650 and as good as it is the 450mt is so much better in many ways. The twin is magic smooth motor and has enough power. The dr stops revving where the 450 easily revs out. Suspension needs no work just adjust compression and rebound to suit. Ive had mine on plenty of tracks and it good.

    • @MotorcyclesOffroad
      @MotorcyclesOffroad 4 дня назад

      OK I agree 100% I wouldnt review a bike without getting at least a weekend of seat time on it. Now a twin engine like my Tenere 700 would always out rev a single cylinder, the issue with that tho is offroad you find yourself in low revs on technical situations. Twins are smooth and do rev more but they create power much later in the range. THis is why singles are so popular offroad, you can generate most of your torque at 2000-3000 rpms. But yeah maybe I should give it a try, but this is not a review. I also believe that a lot of early reviews will be a honey moon phase, meaning people love them because they have them. As views we may need to wait until they are on the market for 6mo+ before we get some hard evidence on where the 450MT will fit.

    I think you nailed it in this review! I purchased an XR150L for my daughter's birthday last June. She and I are both okay with the bike, but it's definitely Honda's version of a "Chonda" bike, if that makes any sense. Most of the components are made in China and are assembled in Mexico. You are correct that the relatively awful weight to HP ratio is due to cheap components with the exception perhaps of the 149cc engine which is very underpowered. I wanted something very gentle as my daughter's first bike. The XR150L will NEVER hit 70 mph with my 5'10 190 lbs in it unless I am hooked on the grill or bumper of a semi that didn't see me crawling along at 50 mph pinned. Luckily, my dealer just had a father and son trade-in two almost brand new 2023 XT250s. One has only 150 mi on it. I put a deposit on it immediately, and I'm waiting for them to get it ready to road test. I tried to buy one back in 2020, and a local dealer wanted a little over seven grand out the door! Needless to say, I walked on that deal, but someone else paid the huge mark up. Not really much of a risk buying a used '23 Yamaha XT250 with 150 mi on it and dealer and Yami warrantied available, and I'm sure my daughter and I will both be much happier with it in terms of quality, performance, and resale value. A lot of people are still chasing after the XR150L basically because of the seemingly low price. If I had it to do over again and it wasn't for my daughter, I would have bought something like a Hawk 250 DLX (230cc, 16HP) with digital display, inverted forks, and EFI for $2,000 instead of the Honda XR150L (149cc, 12 HP on its best day) for $3,900 OTD.

    Wtf are you on about, the drz has been available in Australia since day 1 and still is. USA gets all the motorcycles, lol you don't get the drz400e (enduro) which is more powerful and lighter than the s (street model) and the e model you got for 5 years wasn't street legal. You don't get all the bikes and you have restrictive laws.

      I have a drz400e is my garage right now... And a street legal KDX200 2 stroke. Maybe what you're confusing is that the DRZ400e is sold at the dealer as "offroad" then we add a mirror and brake lights to pass on road use. and what im on about is many European and Australia are not aloud to have new production motorcycles without abs.

That allowance, however, is set to expire in October 2021, meaning those models must either be updated or phased out from the Australian market." -bikessales .com

      @@MotorcyclesOffroad drz400e is street legal in australia no registering it in one state to get a title bs, you just buy it ride it away like any other bike. 2 stroke enduro bikes are also legal. usa has always had weird and restrictive laws around road trail bikes that are detrimental to the bikes design eg the drz400s is choked up with emissions garbage and has a metal tank. almost every dual sport/ enduro bike is sold detuned and choked up to the point of barely running in usa dr650 was sold in australia from 1996-2022 because it's not an enduro bike and has pillion pegs it needs abs under the new law. most bikes that aren't sold in australia, are not sold because they can't compete or are unsuitable for australian conditions. what would australians buy a klx300 for? a farm bike

    Suzuki really needs to stay in the game, especially in California where you can only ride (basically) emissions compliant dual sport bikes off road now if they are newer than 2021. Perhaps the 400 and 650 have too much overlap and they will introduce a 300 to compete with the Kawasaki - or just partner up with them again for some badge engineering.

    Rumors only. There is no R&D required. It sells. In fact my buddy just bought a 2023 SM. And prices for used ones are in some cases more than new. I bought my 2011 in 2012 with a few miles on it from a dealer....out the door was only $4200. You still cant find a 2011 for that price. Also extremely reliable with over 54,000 miles and runs better than new.

    The xr 150l has been around for a long time overseas and has a proven track record for its segment. The cost factor is what got me, and the riding comfort is plush with the soft seat and suspension. It's a great commuter as the gas mileage is phenomenal at between 80 to 120 mpg, and that depends on driving conditions. I would have to give it a combined 100 mpg, and that gets you about 250 plus miles between fill ups without using the reserve. Of course it is a honda so dependability is very good.

    Just bought a 2024 S model. Chose it over the CRF300L or KLX300 due to the aftermarket support and simplicity of the motorcycle. They have such a cult following that if it is disocntinued the used market will get pricey.

    If Kawasaki can fuel inject the KLR, Suzuki could do the same with the DR /Drz

    So you think the whole DRz400 line is going, "Bye bye"..... not just the "SM" model? Interesting as I was thinking about getting one. IF true, I hope it doesn't cause the used prices to jump up.... then I would never get one & if they do close up on this they will always have parts to fix them.... that will remain strong b/c how this bike was grandfathered in & stayed the course. They've changed little so it's all been a money maker for years on end. Sad to hear this. peace

    Maybe, and that’s a big maybe, they’re making a new variant from the ground up like you mentioned. It’d certainly have my attention.

    There were a lot of bikes not in the "First Wave" press release. Notably the Busa and some of the other small bore street bikes. Maybe it's finally the year, but I wouldn't put much faith in it yet based on this one omission.

    I own and ride a DRZ400S and have ran it for the past 6 of the 7 years I've owned it. Recently changed the sprockets to a 15 in the front, and 39 in the rear and it REALLY does not need a sixth gear now. Quite a cheap upgrade to, also makes the other gear ratio's longer which makes it much smoother to ride 👌

      Problem with that is first gear is way too tall for tight singletrack trails. I've owned 3 of them and there's no perfect gearing.

      @@toddkurtz1468 you can play with being on and off the clutch in first and unleash it at your leisure, if your clutch cables are well lubed then it's not so tiring in the wrists. Though the bike is not really built for low speed single track tight trails, more for fire roads and 4×4 safari or jungle roads in my view 👌

      I geared my 400S to 15/37. It'll go 100 mph highway (actual speed 93) and 1st gear is fine for BDRs and Colorado jeep roads up to 13,000 feet elevation, which is how I use it. It's too heavy to be a real dirtbike for single track. For that I have a 300 cc 2-stroke.

    Interesting... Dealer told me last year here in australia that it would disappear along with the 650 in 2025-26 for lack of efi and abs to pass new laws!?!?

    • @MotorcyclesOffroad
      @MotorcyclesOffroad 6 дней назад

      Well that is already true. But in America we still get all walks of bikes without EFI.

      For suzuki to sell the 23 and 24 model drz in Australia (I own one) they had to omit the toolkit, and reduce the fuel tank capacity from 10L down to 7L, IOT reduce the weight of the bike, bikes in Australia under a certain weight, and classified as an Enduro do not require ABS or to meet some other standards. Are Australia making rules even more strict from 25?

    Sadly my money would be on it being discontinued in the states like it has here in New Zealand if you want a road legal one and many other countries. Happy to be proven wrong with either continuing to sell it to the USA or even better a refreshed new international launch
